Plateup collects very little, and the single most important thing to know is at the top of it: we never ask for anything about your guests.
The short version
- We collect nothing about your guests. No names, no contact details, no dietary information, no preferences — the tool takes a headcount and a duration, not a list of people. There is no field to put a guest into and no import of one.
- There is no image upload anywhere on this service, so we never hold a photograph of you, your kitchen or your food.
- Nothing you submit is used to train any AI model — not ours, and not a third party's.
- We do not sell or share personal data for advertising, and we do not do behavioural advertising at all.
Who the controller is
The controller for the personal data described here is the company identified on Legal information. Contact for all data protection matters: support@futureplatetk.shop.
What we collect, and the lawful basis for it
If you only use the calculator
Nothing that identifies you. The headcount, duration, format and dish counts are processed in your browser; the arithmetic never leaves your device unless you ask us to save a result to your account.
If you create an account
- Account data — email address, a hashed password, and a display name if you set one. Lawful basis: performance of a contract (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
- Subscription and payment records — which plan, when it renews, and the transaction identifiers our payment processor returns to us. We never see or store a full card number. Lawful basis: contract, and legal obligation for the tax record (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c)).
- Saved plans — the inputs and the resulting sheet, if you save one. Still no guest information, because we never ask for any. Lawful basis: contract.
- Free-text questions — if you type a sentence rather than using the sliders, that sentence is sent to a model provider so the four inputs can be read out of it. Lawful basis: contract.
- Support correspondence — whatever you write to us and our reply. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Technical logs — IP address, user agent, timestamps and error traces, for security and for keeping the service up. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in operating a secure service.
Model training
Your content is not used to train foundation models, ours or anyone else's. Where a model provider processes a sentence you typed, it does so under contract terms that prohibit training on it, and it is retained by them only for the period needed to return the answer and to meet their own abuse-monitoring obligations. We use aggregate, non-identifying counts — how often a slider moves, how often a sheet is printed — to decide what to build. Those counts cannot be traced back to you.
How long we keep things
- Account data: until you delete your account, then removed within 30 days.
- Saved plans: until you delete them, or 30 days after account deletion.
- Free-text questions: 30 days, then deleted.
- Billing and tax records: six years after the end of the accounting period, because HMRC requires it.
- Technical logs: 90 days.
- Support correspondence: 24 months.
Deleting your account is a single control on the billing page. It removes the account, the saved plans and the free-text history. It does not remove the billing records we are required to keep, and it cannot.
Who else processes it
We use a hosting provider, a database and authentication provider, a payment processor, an email delivery provider and a model provider. Each is engaged as a processor under a written contract that meets UK GDPR Art. 28, and none of them is permitted to use your data for their own purposes. We do not name a payment provider on this site; configuration of payments is handled by the operator of the deployment and the name of the processor appears on your receipt.
International transfers
Some of those processors operate outside the United Kingdom. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on either the International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, together with a transfer risk assessment. We do not rely on any mechanism that has been invalidated. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards in place for a particular transfer.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to be informed; of access; to rectification; to erasure; to restrict processing; to data portability; to object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests; and not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do not carry out that kind of automated decision-making.
To exercise any of them, write to support@futureplatetk.shop. We respond within one month. There is no charge unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.
Complaining to the regulator
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. The ICO can be reached at ico.org.uk, on 0303 123 1113, or at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF. You may complain to the ICO without contacting us first, although we would rather have the chance to put it right.
Cookies
What we set, and how to refuse it, is on the cookie policy. Nothing optional is set before you choose, and refusing is one click at the same size and in the same place as accepting.
Children
This service is not directed at children. You must be 16 or over to create an account. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16; if you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.
Security, and what happens if it fails
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, passwords are hashed, and access to production data is limited to the people who need it. If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will report it to the ICO within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, and tell you without undue delay where the risk is high.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, registered users get at least 14 days' notice by email before it takes effect. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
Questions about any of this go to support@futureplatetk.shop. Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 UK time. We answer within one business day.
